The Roan is a dirnal antelope, forming head of 5 - 25 animals, with a dominant female which leads the herd, as well as a dominant male. The Dominant Male defends his females from other male, to ensure his breeding rights. Younger males for Bachelor Herds when evicted from the herd, while older males tend to be solitary. The Horns are recurved like those of the Sable, to whom they are related, but shorter and thicker. The males are often involved in fights, and are most capable of defend themselves and the herd against predators.
